Effective immediately, ChiroCenter One will no longer require the use of masks while in the clinic waiting or treatment rooms. Individuals who are not fully vaccinated are encouraged to continue wearing masks, in alignment with the updated guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). We will continue our use of plexiglass barriers at the front desk and in the treatment rooms at this time. We will also continue our standard practice of disinfecting commonly touched surfaces at the front desk, in the waiting room, and in the treatment room. For those people who choose to wear a mask in the clinic, our staff and doctor will wear one as well. Who would have imagined I would be writing another post about COVID-19 almost a year from my first post?

Just wanted to give an update on what is happening at ChiroCenter One and what we are doing to keep ourselves and our patient's safe.

As of last week I received my second dose of the Pfizer vaccine, and in less than two weeks Lori my office manager will be getting her second dose as well.

We continue to follow best practices as set forth by the CDC, OSHA, ND Department of Health, and Grand Forks Public Health.

We continue to wear N95 masks when dealing with patients, and patients entering the clinic are required to use face coverings as well.
Patient's are still being scheduled as much as possible so that only one person is in the clinic at a time. Again, to help us with this, please do not show up late or super early for your appointment.
Sanitation of the clinic and common surfaces is still a number one priority.
We have installed protective shields at the front desk and in the treatment room.

We are also running several HEPA air filtration devices throughout the clinic. These are also equipped with UV-C light which kills viruses, bacteria and other pathogens.

In the bathroom we have installed a touchless water facet, touchless soap dispenser, touchless towel dispenser, and a touchless covered waste container.

I have been operating throughout this pandemic and have not missed any days at work due to being ill, nor have we been contacted by the Department of Health as a close contact. The safety of myself, my office manager, and all of our patient's is my top priority and will continue to be so until hopefully all of this craziness has passed.

I just wanted to provide an update regarding the COVID-19 situation and ChiroCenter One’s decision regarding operation.

ChiroCenter One will remain open to serve patients in the Grand Forks and surrounding area. We are taking all measures possible to insure the safety of ourselves and that of our patients.

The Department of Homeland Security identified chiropractors as essential healthcare workers, and we have an important role in this pandemic. Most notably by helping people suffering from acute or chronic pain conditions who may otherwise burden our health care resources by reporting either to primary care, urgent care, or emergency departments.

Many may not realize this, but lower back pain is the leading cause of disability in the US. Musculoskeletal complaints are the number one reason for presentation to a primary health provider. Chiropractors are experts in diagnosing and treating these types of complaints, and it is important now more than ever that we continue to be the profession that treats these conditions.

These problems affect people across all demographics as well. I see other doctors, firefighters, paramedics, physical therapists, nurses, truck drivers, factory workers, grocery store workers...other people who must keep working during this crisis. Chiropractors are a vital resource to these people and to make sure that everyone that has to keep working is able to keep working.

I am also one of a limited number of providers in Grand Forks that are licensed to perform Department of Transportation (DOT) driver examinations. I am currently the main examiner for several trucking companies in Grand Forks...those drivers who are keeping food, medical and other supplies being delivered.

In addition to the above, there are several more steps I am taking regarding procedures outlined in my last communication to provide a safe environment to my patients, myself, and the staff at ChiroCenter One.

1. Beth and I will be wearing N95 masks when dealing with patients.

2. Patient’s are being scheduled as much as possible so that only one person is in the office at a time. To help us with this, please do not show up late for your appointment, but please do not show up super early either. If you show up early, please wait in your car until you have been waived in or the previous patient has left..

3. As stated earlier, sanitation procedures have been strict, but just to remind you, all outside/inside door handles, surfaces in the waiting room and front desk, and surfaces including the entire treatment table, are sanitized between every patient.

4. We are following procedures and recommendations as set forth by the CDC, OSHA, and the ND Department of Health.

These are undocumented and crazy times we are going through, and I’ve felt the burden and stress of the unknown just like all of you. I realize that Chiropractic treatment is far from a “social distancing” type of situation; it’s a hands-on approach for sure. Just know that if you need some help, I am here. Due to the progression of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) in the United States, I wanted to update you on additional procedures we are implementing at ChiroCenter One Chiropractors in Grand Forks to keep you and your family safe.

First, ChiroCenter One is open and encourages all patients who are symptom free to keep up with your chiropractic adjustments! The premise behind chiropractic in the first place is that your body heals itself, and chiropractic treatments remove interference that decrease your body's ability to heal itself. That being said, we would ask all patients who are experiencing symptoms such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath, as well those patients with family members experiencing these symptoms, to please reschedule your appointments and visit www.ndhealth.gov to see if your symptoms warrant a COVID-19 test.

We have always upheld high standards for cleanliness, but have implemented more frequent cleaning throughout the day. This includes inside and outside door handles, counter-tops, and areas in the waiting and treatment rooms. We have always used face paper on the adjusting table as an additional measure of safety, but will now be sanitizing surfaces on the table and in the adjusting room after EVERY patient.

Although no correlation has been made thus far regarding pets and COVID-19, Nico the office dog will be staying at home for the time being. So many people liked to pet and touch her that I thought this would be the best course of action for her, other patients, and my family at home.

1 in 4 American Workers Struggle With Chronic Back Pain

A recent report published in the Annals of Internal Medicine reveal that 1 in 4 American workers struggle with chronic lower back pain. That equates to roughly 40 million Americans. In fact, 80 percent of adults will experience a disabling episode of lower back pain at some point in their lives. It's no surprise, then, that lower back pain is the leading cause of disability among working-age adults.

Unfortunately, too many people are turning to opioid pain killers for their chronic lower back pain. Not only is this contributing to the current opioid epidemic, but pain killers do nothing to help improve the condition. Masking symptoms will just prolong the problem, and sometimes even make the problem worse as further damage is done while under the influence of opioids.

Chiropractic care, on the other hand, uses no drugs or surgery and is highly successful in treating both chronic and acute lower back pain. When you feel better with chiropractic care it's because you are better ....we don't just cover up symptoms but actually make your back and spinal joints move and work better.

Thanksgiving Office Hours

ChiroCenter One will be closed Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday. Normal office hours will resume on Monday, November 28th.

Winter office hours are Monday through Thursday 8:30am to 5:30pm, and on Friday’s from 8:30am to 3:00pm.

Monday – Thursday 8:30am – 5:30pm
Friday 8:30am-3:00pm.
